The yeast Candida albicans normally lives harmlessly in the body, controlled by beneficial bacteria in the body and the immune system. Under certain circumstances, Candida can cause localized infections, such as thrush and vaginal yeast infections. Although it highly disputed among the medical community, some alternative practitioners believe that candida is responsible for a host of ailments which can be addressed with diet and supplements.
