Fibrocystic breast condition are characterized by lumpiness in one or both breasts, which may be accompanied by discomfort. It's a common condition, affecting more than 60% of women, mainly between the ages of 30 and 50. Fibrocystic changes usually occur in both breasts.
Fibrocystic breast lumps are benign, but they can appear similar to lumps found in breast cancer. If lumps are found, diagnostic tests may be needed to rule out breast cancer.
Are There Natural Remedies for Fibrocystic Breasts?
Although caffeine is believed by some to be involved in fibrocystic breast changes, there isn't consistent scientific evidence that caffeine is involved or that restricting caffeine intake can reduce these changes.
Still, some women with fibrocystic breasts might consider it worthwhile to have a trial period of caffeine restriction. Major sources of caffeine include coffee, tea, sodas and energy drinks.
