Tea is an indispensible part of life in Asia. Not only is it refreshing and comforting, but it is full of health-promoting antioxidants. Here are some of my suggestions.

1) Yamamotoyama Japanese Green Tea

This is my top pick for an affordable, light-tasting Japanese green tea. It is a blend of different green tea leaves, including a powdered green tea leaf used in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

2) Dragon Well Tea

Also known as Longjing tea, Dragon Well tea is grown near West Lake in Hangzhou, China. It is one of the most famous Chinese green teas.

3) Japanese Sencha

Sencha is a Japanese green tea. One difference between Japanese and Chinese tea is that Japanese green tea is often steam-dried rather than oven-dried. Sencha has a bright green colour and a refreshing, slightly grassy taste.

4) Decaffeinated Green Tea

An average cup of green tea has slightly less caffeine than a cup of black tea. It is important to choose a tea that has been decaffeinated using a carbon dioxide (C02) water process. The other method of removing caffeine uses a solvent that takes away most of the health-promoting antioxidants.

5) Organic Five Peaks Green Jade Tea

This certified organic tea is produced in Hubei, China using the steam and hot air drying process that is more common in Japan. Like Japanese Sencha, it has a slightly grassy taste.
