Could My Diet be a Trigger for Migraines?

Although diet alone isn't considered a treatment for migraines, eating certain foods can trigger migraines in some people.
Just ask "Desperate Housewives" star Marcia Cross. Marcia has had migraines since she was in her early teens and openly shares how medication, stress management, and diet have helped her combat them. She has even become a paid spokesperson for GlaxoSmithKline to raise awareness.
One of the tips Marcia shared with Teri Roberts, About's Guide to Headaches and Migraines, is that when she was diagnosed with migraines, she started keeping a food diary and learned that certain foods could fuel her migraines.
I'm glad Marcia talks about food diaries because they're a smart way of learning about the food-migraine connection. The list of potential food triggers is long. If people were to try to avoid all of them, they'd find themselves on a very restrictive diet. Keeping a food diary and then avoiding only suspected trigger foods is easier and more focused.
