Morning Sickness Remedies

Friday May 12, 2006
Actress Angelina Jolie, who's due in summer 2006, was reported to have had severe morning sickness. It's estimated that between 50 to 80% of women experience morning sickness, or nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Despite its name, nausea lasts throughout the whole day for many women. It usually peaks by week 9 and diminishes by week 20.

A Canadian study surveyed pregnant women and found that almost two thirds (61.2%) of women used natural remedies to alleviate morning sickness. The three most common remedies used were ginger tea, acupressure wristbands, and vitamins. Learn more about morning sickness remedies.

Ginger Ale and Ginger Snaps have made a huge difference for me in managing my morning sickness.

Another great tip is to take your prenatal vitamin at night, with a small snack like a bowl of cereal. Take it right before you go to sleep. That way you will be asleep by the time you start getting sick from the iron and folic acid in the vitamin.
