Herbal Education Guideline - The American Herbalist's Guild
The American Herbalist's Guild has put together a great guideline for students selecting a school of herbal medicine. It recommends the number of teaching hours they feel should be devoted to each herbal topic. Also recommends topics that the curriculum should cover.
Southwest School of Botanical Medicine (Arizona)
Michael Moore is one of the most well-known herbalists in North America. His four month program begins every February. Read more details in this text document.
East West School of Herbology (California)
Home study course in herbal medicine. Founder of the school is Michael Tierra, a respected herbalist who combines Western herbalism with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine.
Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies (Colorado)
Eleven month program in Western Herbalism, with 750 class hours. Includes three field trips. Graduates of this program are eligible to move on to the advanced program.
Northeast School of Botanical Medicine (New York)
This school offers a six or seven month training program in clinical herbalism and field botany. Director and instructor is herbalist 7Song. Includes field excursions.
Bastyr University (Washington)
Botanical medicine is offered as part of the four year full-time naturopathic medicine program. Includes study of pathology, diagnosis, and clinical botanical medicine.
