Dubbed a "smart drug," piracetam is a substance said to increase brain power, improve concentration and focus, and sharpen memory. Available over-the-counter in a number of countries (such as the United Kingdom), piracetam is derived from gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) (a type of amino acid and brain chemical). Some people also use piracetam to treat conditions like Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, and depression, as well as to slow up the aging process.
Proponents claim that piracetam can enhance brain function by promoting communication between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. But while there's some evidence that piracetam may help improve cognitive function in elderly people suffering from dementia, there's currently a lack of studies showing that piracetam can boost brain power in cognitively healthy people.
For better brain health, try increasing your intake of omega-3 fatty acids (a type of healthy fat found naturally in oily fish and flaxseed oil and sold in dietary supplement form). Read the full article: Piracetam - What You Need to Know
