Chelation (pronounced key-LAY-shun) is a controversial IV treatment for hardening of the arteries, also called atherosclerosis. Although it's not FDA-approved for this purpose, it's used by holistic doctors to improve circulation, and the National Institutes of Health is conducting a $30 million study to test whether it's effective.
