Raw Foods: Not For Everyone

Salads, celery sticks, apples, and lots of cold water. Sound like healthy food? Not for everyone.

Raw foods require more energy to digest. Last week, I talked about foods for your Ayurvedic constitutional type, or dosha. If you are a Vata type, raw foods can easy overwhelm your digestion and result in gas and bloating. Steamed or other cooked vegetables are better.

If you are Kapha, lots of steamed vegetables are good for you. In warm climates, your body can take more raw foods. Kapha types are naturally cold, however, so too much cold and raw can cause an imbalance.
